Why do I keep sleeping too long?

My sleep patterns vary and some nights I sleep better than other nights. One problem though is that I tend to sleep too long. I strongly believe that I should sleep for close to 8 hours each night, but I often times end up sleeping for 10 hours. That’s an extra 2 hours of sleep every night, which adds up to too much time wasted. Sleeping is nice, but I have to also gets stuff done and I am a person that strives for excellence. How can I fix this?

Sleeping for long periods of time like that, without control, is a sign of depression. You don’t have to tell me if you have it, but that is a symptom. I’d also start setting an alarm.
